Canine
Cashmere will fluff with time and usage. This is similar to the effect one gets with commercial Mohair yarn. For this reason, we recommend that you go up at least two sizes in your knitting needles or crochet hook.Using larger needles will create a more open, lightweight fabric that will be filled in later by the halo.If your fabric is too solid or tight, the growth of the halo will make your finished piece too thick. The general rule of thumb is 2.5 pounds of raw fiber is required to make a basic large sweater. However, due to the insulating properties, we do not recommend making an entire sweater from canine cashmere. It simply would be too warm to wear. In most cases, you can use your Keepsake Yarn for both the warp and the weft of the project.Since some keepsake yarn can be rather “delicate”, we recommend that you test the strength of your yarn before warping your loom. The strength of the warp will depend upon your pet’s fiber and the staple length as well as the type of loom you intend upon using. If you feel your keepsake yarn is not strong enough to warp your type of loom, you may opt to use a commercial yarn for the warp, saving your keepsake yarn for the weft.

MACRAMÉ can create unique wall hangings, hangers and jewelry. It is also a great medium for that "not so soft" keepsake yarn. Again, we suggest that you test the strength of your keepsake yarn before you start your project. A delicate keepsake yarn may not be suitable for a project intended to bear any weight.
RUG HOOKING is back! Whether you work from a kit or design your own rug/wall hanging, your Keepsake Yarn can be cut into the desired lengths and incorporated into your project. Our sample here was done from a commercial kit. We simply replaced the brown yarn provided in the kit with Golden Retriever yarn clipped the same length.
NEEDLE POINT-PLASTIC CANVAS still a favorite hobby for many. Again, you can use your own pattern or substitute your keepsake yarn for the commercial yarn in a kit. Since the stitching process is very abrasive to the yarn, we recommend that you use shorter yarn lengths to avoid yarn breakage.
